Department: Transportation

Location: Riverdale, UT (also Pleasant Grove or Salt Lake City office)

Compensation: $68,000 - $95,000 / year

Unmatched Comp Time Policy: Hours worked over 40 in a week are paid at the usual hourly rate or can be banked as additional PTO.

As a Drainage Engineer‑In‑Training you will be responsible for a variety of projects, taking ownership from start to finish. We are looking for someone to work in our Pleasant Grove or Salt Lake City office.

Core Responsibilities
  • Work as part of the drainage team under the direction of Senior Hydraulics Engineers to perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design for transportation projects.
  • Use a variety of modeling software and tools to analyze and design drainage systems including storm drains, culverts, ditches, and water quality and stormwater management facilities.
  • Use CADD to prepare plans and digital files for bidding and construction.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to provide the best value and service to our clients.
  • Design, calculations, and plan development.
  • Apply and adhere to industry and client standards.
  • Take ownership of and complete assigned tasks.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree from accredited program in civil engineering.
  • Passed FE exam.
  • 0‑4 years of experience in storm water design and plan preparation for transportation projects.
  • Municipal and/or state DOT experience preferred.
  • Open Roads Designer experience preferred.
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented professional with strong organizational skills.
  • Desire to progress personally and professionally.
  • Motivated to work hard to learn new skills.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work with different staff members.
