Overview
Associate Attorney - Student Services and Disabilities. The group’s practice area encompasses issues concerning students in pre-school through 12th grade, focusing on special education, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Americans with Disabilities Act, and related student discipline matters. The firm provides daily advice and counsel to clients and supports student-related litigation and interactions with agencies such as the California Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) and California Department of Education (CDE).
Responsibilities- Support Senior Associates, Of Counsel, and Partners within the SSDLPG.
- Engage in mentoring, client contact, and contribute to upward advancement opportunities.
- Travel to office and client sites as needed.
- Provide advice and counsel on special education, 504 plans, and related disability matters.
- Assist with student-related litigation and interactions with federal and state agencies regarding student disability and discrimination matters.
- 3–6 years of legal experience with strong research, writing, and people skills.
- Expertise in matters concerning special education, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Experience with student discipline matters a plus.
