Position OverviewWe are seeking a tenure‑track faculty member in the Ethnic Studies area. The successful candidate will demonstrate discipline expertise, commitment to social and racial justice, and use decolonial and anti‑racist pedagogies. Teaching assignments may include early morning (7 a.m.), day, evening, online, hybrid, and/or off‑campus classes.
Qualifications- Education:
Master’s degree in Ethnic Studies or related fields (e.g., American Studies, Latino Studies, African American Studies, etc.) from an accredited institution. - Experience:
Recent experience working with African American/Black, Asian American, Pacific Islander, Chicanx, Latinx, Native American, Indigenous, and other minoritized student populations in the classroom; understanding of historical patterns shaping these groups’ experiences. - Teaching Excellence:
Demonstrated excellence in Ethnic Studies, ability to develop and teach courses across African American Studies, Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies, Chicanx and Latinx Studies, Native American and Indigenous Studies, Comparative Ethnic Studies, critical race theory, decolonization, anti‑racism, intersectional theory, and related areas. - Methods:
Experience with intersectionality, decolonizing methodology, innovative transdisciplinary methodologies, anti‑imperialist and abolitionist studies, social justice practices, and community‑oriented activist action research. - Curriculum:
Experience and/or interest in building Ethnic Studies curriculum and programming. - Collaboration:
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across disciplines to design, revise, and implement new and existing curriculum. - Commitment:
Demonstrated commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population. - Licenses/Certifications:
