Civil Engineering Lead (Civil Works)

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multi-discipline analysis within HDR’s dam, levee, and civil works program in Southern California.
• Coordinate site land development, structural, geotechnical, hydraulic engineering, and other disciplines.
• Provide project management, business development, and mentorship to a team of civil engineers and designers.
• Develop project design, planning, scheduling, and final design analysis for dams, spillways, outlet works, stormwater systems, and other critical structures.
• Support project delivery and technological development, ensuring high-quality services.
• Apply State Dam Safety, US Bureau of Reclamation, US Army Corps of Engineers and/or FERC regulated projects and standards.

Additional Positive Qualifications

• Master of Science or higher in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Willingness to obtain California PE registration; multiple state registrations encouraged.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in civil engineering projects involving site land development, water management, structural, geotechnical, and hydraulic disciplines.
• Construction experience to identify potential claims.
• Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate tasks with multiple disciplines.
• Experience with Bentley Micro Station, InRoads, Open Roads, AutoCAD Civil3D, and other civil engineering software.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 7 years related experience.
• Minimum 2 years project management experience.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board (e.g., PE or P.Eng).
• Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project;
  Access experience a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.

Expected compensation: $140,000–$215,000 (California). Temporary and part‑time roles eligible for limited benefits.
