Experienced Principal Project Engineer/Manager
Our Riverside, CA office values innovation, collaboration, and community impact. As a Principal Project Engineer/Manager, you will lead multidisciplinary teams on landmark civil engineering projects that shape California communities.
Key Responsibilities- Lead project teams and oversee design, development, and delivery of civil engineering projects.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, construction documents, and contracts.
- Oversee field coordination and construction support activities.
- Prepare contracts, fee proposals, and scopes of work.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, public agencies, and internal staff.
- Provide mentorship and direction to engineering and design staff.
- Perform conceptual/preliminary design studies considering zoning, land use, infrastructure, and regulatory factors.
- Review constructability and provide construction support services.
- Ensure compliance with applicable jurisdictional codes, standards, and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
- California Professional Civil Engineer (PE) license required (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- 8-12 years of relevant civil engineering experience (12-15 years equivalent acceptable).
- Minimum of 3 years of management experience supervising technical staff.
- Proven project management skills and the ability to lead complex engineering projects.
- Strong communication, leadership, and decision‑making abilities.
- Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D required.
- In‑depth knowledge of California codes, standards, and procedures preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of engineering principles and project management practices.
- Ability to direct, plan, and guide design teams with clear goals and accountability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate, manage client relationships, and represent the firm professionally.
- Proficiency in CAD for preparing exhibits, studies, and final plans.
- Competitive compensation and bonus potential ($103,000 to $160,000 DOE).
