Note
This role requires active California Bar membership and civil litigation defense experience (insurance defense strongly preferred).
About Our Client
Our client is a Riverside‑based law firm with a broad litigation platform handling matters in state and federal courts, including ADR when appropriate. Their defense practice spans civil litigation and insurance‑related disputes, supporting a wide range of institutional and business clients.
Job Description
- Handle civil litigation defense matters from intake through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and case strategy materials
- Take and defend depositions and manage written discovery
- Appear in court for hearings, CMCs, and motion practice
- Communicate directly with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel
- Work closely with legal assistants/secretaries on filings, calendaring, and trial prep
- Support settlement efforts, mediation, and ADR as needed
Qualifications
- Active CA Bar (required)
- 2+ years of civil litigation experience, ideally on the defense side
- Comfortable managing deadlines, motion practice, and discovery independently
- Strong legal writing and analytical skills
- Courtroom experience (hearings, CMCs, motions) is a plus
- Professional, responsive communicator with a team‑oriented mindset
