General Assembly Technician I
The General Assembly Technician I is an entry‑level role responsible for supporting vehicle or component assembly operations under close supervision. This position focuses on learning fundamental assembly skills, safe tool usage, and basic manufacturing processes while contributing to daily production goals. The technician works as part of a small team and follows established work instructions, quality checks, and safety requirements.
1st Shift
Hours:
6:00am-2:30pm
- Perform basic mechanical assembly tasks such as fastening components, installing brackets, and assisting with subassemblies
- Use hand tools and basic power tools under guidance and supervision
- Assist with electrical work including wire routing, labeling, and preparation for termination
- Support body and interior assembly activities such as panel installation, surface prep, sealing, and material handling
- Follow work instructions, drawings, and verbal direction to complete assigned tasks
- Conduct self-checks of completed work to ensure it meets basic quality expectations
- Complete required production checklists, logs, and documentation accurately
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with safety and 5S standards
- Escalate issues related to quality, fitment, safety, or unclear instructions to the supervisor or lead technician
- Learn and develop skills to meet expected takt time and productivity standards
Required Skills:
- 1–2 year of experience in manufacturing, assembly, or a hands‑on work environment
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn assembly processes
- Ability to safely use hand tools and basic power tools with instruction
- Ability to read and follow basic drawings or work instructions with support
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow directions
- Reliable attendance and a strong focus on safety
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work with hands for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 25lbs with or without assistance
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, tools, equipment, and varying temperatures. May involve working inside vehicle structures or confined spaces.

While we do not typically hire at the top of the salary range, initial offers are based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience, with opportunities for growth and increases over time.
The hiring range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00 per hour.
