Summary

Provides and monitors safe, cost-effective patient care in accordance with RN scope of practice and adherence to the organization’s nursing policy and procedures. Thorough knowledge of infection control and aseptic techniques.

Qualifications

Education and/or

Experience:

High School Diploma or GED required. Graduate of an accredited school of Registered Nursing program. A.A., Diploma, B.S.N. preferred. Six months to one-year experience and/or training preferred in Urgent Care.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: Current California RN License, American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALS and IV experience required.

Hours

12 hr shifts. Monday - Friday 8:00AM to 9:00PM, Weekends 9:00AM to 9:00PM

Essential Functions
  • Review patient medical record prior to visit to ensure chart readiness for physician.
  • Interview patients, take vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess patient condition; record vital signs in patient chart. Function as triage nurse when necessary.
  • Prepare treatment room for examination of patients; assist physician with procedures; clean examination room and sterilize appropriate equipment after use. Order medical supplies and equipment as needed.
  • liExplain procedures and treatments to patients and their family in order to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension. Provide patient education using approved materials and methods to enhance outcomes.
  • Administer prescribed medication orally by injection or IV and document, according to policy.
  • Observe patient and report any adverse reactions, to include chemotherapy medications.
  • Initiate intravenous lines, add IV fluids to existing lines, and discontinue lines under the direction of the Physician or an Allied Health Professional (must be IV certified). Rush medications when ordered.
  • Respond to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
  • Complete all documentation to ensure accurate medical records. Assure that physician has signed chart; review physician orders to verify that all orders have been carried out. Return patient chart to medical records.
  • Assist in the formulation, evaluation and revision of nursing policies, procedures, and routine in conjunction with the Director of Nursing.
  • Evaluate utilization of personnel, supplies, equipment and physical facilities for optimum effectiveness and working conditions.
  • Function in the RN scope of practice and Riverside Medical Clinic policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring all expired sample medications and patient supplies are discarded upon expiration date.
  • Maintain current California RN licensure, BLS, and ACLS certification.
