Archaeologist On-Call Inland Empire

ICF is currently seeking On-Call (Temporary) Archaeologists based in the Los Angeles, Inland Empire, or Orange County, CA areas.

Job Description

The On-Call/Temporary Archaeologist will assist senior archaeologists in fieldwork, laboratory analysis, monitoring, and preparing technical reports and environmental documents. Responsibilities include conducting background research, survey, testing, evaluation, data recovery, construction monitoring, laboratory work, and report writing. The role requires excellent field skills, artifact analysis, record keeping, and report writing (methods, results, artifact analyses). Travel for up to 10 days may be required.

About On-Call Employment with ICF

Due to the seasonal or project-specific nature of our work, ICF hires environmental professionals as “On-Call” employees. They are scheduled for work hours as they become available, with work scheduled a few weeks in advance but also possible last-minute. On-Call employees can accept or decline assigned hours and may work on outside projects if no conflict of interest exists.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field
• At least 1 year of field experience in archaeological monitoring and survey
• Valid driver’s license and successful Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

• Experience in Los Angeles, eastern San Diego County, or Imperial County
• Effective communication and coordination skills with senior staff and construction personnel
• Knowledge of computers and GPS equipment
• Background in prehistoric or historic archaeology
• Ability to conduct field visits across Southern California
• Cross training in paleontological monitoring
• Railroad Safety Training for Southern California rail or transit districts
• Active 40-hour HAZWOPER training

Pay Range

The pay range for full-time employment is $55,148.00 - $ based on factors like experience, skills, certifications, location, and education. This position is based in Los Angeles, CA.
