Campus Safety Responder

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
• Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree Preferred

• Must possess or obtain a Valid CA Driver?s License in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles by the date of hire and maintain throughout employment.
  
  Required

• Successfully complete Advanced First-Aid/CPR/AED certification within one year of hire and maintain throughout employment.
  
  Required
• Successfully complete Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification within six months of hire and maintain throughout employment.
  
  Required
• Possess a valid California Bureau of Security & Investigative Services Guard Card within six months of hire and maintain throughout employment.
  
  Required
• Successfully complete a State of California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training 832 PC course within initial six months of employment and maintain certification throughout employment.

• Must meet CANRA compliance requirement per California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act ('CANRA,' Penal Code sections .4).Required

• Experience working in a higher education setting.
  
  Preferred
• Demonstrated experience with speaking and presenting information to small and large diverse groups.

• Experience patrolling assigned areas for safety.
  
  Required
• Knowledge of and experience enforcing rules and regulations, security policies and procedures, applicable state and local laws, while ensuring the rights of community members.

• As a condition of employment, must successfully complete an extensive background investigation, including successfully completing an FBI fingerprinting process and maintain the successful completion of an FBI fingerprinting process throughout employment.

• Must possess and maintain a valid CA Driver License in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
  
  Required
• Ability to work variable shifts, including: evenings; nights; weekends; and holidays. Including the ability to work overtime, as needed, including hours outside of normal shift hours.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and independently organize available work time to meet assigned responsibilities.
• Ability to spend long hours on foot patrol of buildings, grounds, etc.
• Must display exceptional customer service and communication skills.
