At VCI Constructions as a Copper Splicer II, perform installation repair and alternation of network cable systems. You'll connect, maintain, and upgrade copper wire networks for telecommunications across both aerial and underground environments. You will be repairing telephone outside plant connections, while testing, activating, and troubleshooting circuits post-installation to ensure all operations meet strict customer and industry standards.

Perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground
Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network’s circuit post-installation
Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
Work form prints and diagrams
Must be experienced working from ladders and bucket trucks
Must be familiar with AT&T 710 splicing system.
Must be able to remove/install or rearrange waffle closure
Must know standard telecom cable color code
Be familiar with existing and new plant
Repair out-of-service drops or cable cuts as necessary
Provide guidance to other splicers, as needed
Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
Other duties as assigned
What you’ll need- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
- Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
- At least two years of copper splicing experience
- Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferred
- Knowledge of telecommunications network structure
- Routinely: operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, repetitive hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds
- Occasionally: work in confined spaces, use ladder, keyboard and mouse
The wage range for Splicer II Copper is $24.00 - $41.00.
