Job Description & How to Apply Below
We are looking for a Back End Engineer with expertise in Data Engineering & Security, based in Latin America to work on a long-term project for one of our clients, a hyper-growth fintech company based in Los Angeles, California.
Our client´s mission is to make financial advice better and more accessible for everyone. They are building a revolutionary platform for financial advisors and their clients to remove the friction from investing and reduce the barrier to entry into wealth creation and management.
- Design, test, and maintain production backend services, data pipelines, and APIs using Python, Java and SQL.
- Implement secure data-access patterns across backend services and Snowflake.
- Trace and protect PII across services and production pipelines through data lineage, encryption-aware access, isolation, and controlled data movement.
- Create and operate Airflow DAGs and scheduled workflows with data-quality checks, logging, metrics, alerting, and runbooks.
- Plan and execute data migrations, deprecations, and workflow changes with reconciliation, staged rollout, rollback, and handoff plans.
- Partner with Data, Platform, Security, and business-system owners to clarify ambiguous requirements, identify risks, and deliver production-ready solutions.
- Investigate security and data-quality failures, document decisions and residual risks, and leave maintainable tests and operational documentation for the permanent team.
- Advanced Level of English.
- 5+ years of professional experience designing, implementing, testing, and operating production backend services or data-platform components, with strong Python and SQL skills.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake or a comparable cloud data warehouse, including roles, grants, service identities, secure views, data lineage, migrations, and validation of completeness and freshness.
- Production experience creating or operating Airflow DAGs and scheduled workflows, including dependencies, retries, backfills, idempotency, concurrency, and failure recovery.
- Practical understanding of least privilege, defense in depth, secure service-to-service access, secrets handling, audibility, and PII protection across the data lifecycle.
- Strong secure-coding and reliability habits, including input validation, careful logging, access checks, safe error handling, backward compatibility, automated testing, and rollback-ready deployments.
- Ability to work independently from incomplete requirements, communicate clearly across Data, Platform, Security, and business teams, and document decisions, lineage, operational procedures, and handoff details.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or related fields.
- Experience with financial services, regulated data, privacy engineering, or other security-sensitive production environments.
- Long term positions
- Compensation in USD
- Cool clients and products
- Work with great engineers
