Outside Sales Representative

Join us at McCray Lumber & Millwork, a locally owned and operated organization with over 75 years of industry experience. We are seeking talented outside sales representatives to join our award‑winning team.

Job Summary

The Outside Sales position develops and manages sales and marketing territory to ensure profit growth and expansion of our products.

Essential Job Functions
  • Build relationships with current and prospective customers via personal and phone interactions, ensuring the completion of plan take‑offs, bids, quotes, and addressing inquiries.
  • Prepare and present accurate sales proposals and quotes to prospective and current customers.
  • Communicate with customers and leads to identify and understand their business needs to suggest products and services to meet those needs.
  • Maintain communication with existing and previous customers, alerting them of new products, services, and enhancements that may be of interest.
  • Stay current with account receivables status and assist with payment/collections of receivables for own clients.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Perform job‑site visits to ensure delivery and timely completion of orders.
  • Research and provide accurate information to customers regarding proper materials and prices as well as technical information regarding application and specifications.
  • Coordinate all deliveries and credit pick‑ups with the yard dispatcher.
  • Ensure all projects generate appropriate profit margins to company standards.
  • Maintain detailed reports of sales activities including calls, orders, sales, lost business, and any customer or vendor relationship problems.
  • Responsible for the generation of new customers.
  • Keep abreast of current product developments in the industry.
  • Communicate information pertinent to competition, market conditions, credit and accounts’ needs and requirements.
  • Provide periodic territory sales forecasts.
  • Develop processes to track progress of customer projects and monitor progress.
  • Attend trade association events and participate as requested as a company representative (HBA, NARI, trade shows, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high‑paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education

Associate’s Degree or equivalent two‑year degree. In lieu of a degree, at least 4 years of related experience.

Experience

At least one year of related experience.
