Respiratory Therapist @ Sevita

Neuro Restorative, a part of the Sevita family, provides rehabilitation services for people of all ages with brain, spinal cord and medically complex injuries, illnesses and other challenges. In a variety of locations and community‑based settings, we offer a range of programs, including vocational and therapy programs, day treatments, and specialized services for infants, children, adolescents, Military Service Members and Veterans.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care at the Children’s Recovery Center.
  • Provide direct patient care respiratory services as assigned, including ventilator management, tracheostomy care, and other respiratory needs.
  • Set up, adjust, and manage patients on continuous mechanical ventilation, maintaining airway patency, stabilizing trach tubes, monitoring cuff pressures, and ensuring proper volume, mode, pressures, rates, and oxygen concentration. Wean patients from continuous ventilation according to established procedures when indicated.
  • Thoroughly document all therapeutic and diagnostic activities and results in the patient’s medical record.
  • Assess appropriateness of respiratory care orders and discuss variances with primary physician when necessary.
  • Formulate appropriate respiratory care plans based on patient assessment; monitor and identify problems regarding quality assurance and communicate effectively with physicians.
  • Participate in patient rounds in designated clinical area and serve as respiratory care resource to other health‑care team members.
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients and/or families; provide patient education regarding the pulmonary system.
  • Participate in meetings and conferences to improve delivery of respiratory care; engage in clinical in‑service education and training concerning respiratory care policies and procedures.
  • Propose and help implement techniques, methodologies, and treatment modalities related to respiratory care; assist in developing new clinical procedures.
  • Perform emergency and acute respiratory care procedures per service policy, including cardiopulmonary arrest response and CPR.
  • Identify problem areas regarding department, staff, and patient safety.
  • Perform peer review of other therapists in the area of responsibility.
  • Provide input to supervisor regarding staffing, equipment, and supply needs.
  • Assemble, check, correct malfunctions, and perform quality controls on respiratory care equipment.
  • Maintain clinical and professional competency based on established standards of practice.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an approved program in Respiratory Therapy; associate’s degree in Respiratory Care Technology preferred.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
  • Credentialing and registration as required by state.
  • Ability to apply pediatric respiratory principles in the clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self‑motivated and detail‑oriented with problem‑solving ability.
  • PALS certification required (may complete after hire).
