The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supports plasma center operations, reports to the Plasma Center Manager, and works under the guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician. Responsibilities include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, communicating donor notification, and providing center‑level support for environmental, health and safety (EHS).
How you will contribute- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including standing orders and donor transport to emergency care.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues.
- Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation requirements.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or recognized nursing program graduate equivalent.
- Licensed as LPN or LVN in the state of assignment.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- At least two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
U.S. – UT – Riverton
Hourly wage range: $23.85 – $32.79. U.S. based employees may be eligible for short‑term incentives, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), disability coverage, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time, holidays, well‑being benefits, sick time, and vacation accrual.
