Description
The purpose of this position is to “seek to bring forth and establish the cause of Zion.” This journeyman role supports Headquarters Facilities by providing and maintaining the physical accommodations for Church Departments and Priesthood Leaders.
The expectation is to provide preventative and corrective maintenance, and construction for these facilities, portraying an image of dignity, integrity, and respectability, while meeting standards of time, quality, and cost.
Pay range: $26.00–$29.00 per hour, depending on experience and training.
Responsibilities- Work with materials such as door hardware, soft and hard woods, gypsum board, framing, laminates, concrete, ceilings, floor tiles, stone, furniture, etc.
- Use work order tracking software and time entry in daily work.
- Estimate materials needed for specific jobs or projects.
- Maintain, repair, and use hand tools, portable machines, and shop equipment.
- Perform required safety training and certifications.
- Work with contractors as needed.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
- Cabinetry: install, maintain, and repair interior and exterior finish woodwork.
- Hardscape and Flooring: install, maintain, and repair all flooring, including repairing water leaks.
- Furnishings: install modular furniture, perform core drilling.
- Restoration and Repair: install, maintain, and repair doors, drywall, fencing, handrails, masonry, insulation, roofs, finishes, metal and wood framing, suspended ceilings, tile, etc.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Journeyman level Carpenter with at least 4 years of experience in carpentry, concrete, flooring, cabinetry, furniture, modular installation, or related fields.
- Pass all required safety and equipment certifications and trainings.
- Work independently and in a professional manner with others.
- Maintain a positive attitude and ability to work as a team.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid driver's license; DOT certification may be required.
- Understand English for general communication and safety training.
- Capable of comprehending verbal and written instructions and asking clarifying questions.
- Good vision for precision work and good eye‑hand‑foot coordination.
- Safe to work from ladders, scaffolds, or mechanical lifts for extended periods.
- Ability to distinguish colors.
- Lift objects up to 50 lbs independently, and team‑lift up to 100 lbs regularly.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, push, and pull for extended periods.
- Requires at least 20/40 vision with or without corrective lenses and at least 120° horizontal peripheral vision.
- Multi‑trade background.
