Arapaho Language Apprentice/Teacher Assistant – Arapaho Language Immersion

Assist the Head Teacher with all preschool language immersion program including:

• Ensure to only speak the Arapaho language to the children attending the program
• Interact with children throughout the day through the Arapaho language
• Carry out all classroom activities in accordance with curriculum adapted for the immersion program
• Guide children in a positive manner
• Know the procedures to follow in case of an emergency
• Present audio, visual aids and other materials to the children
• Help idle children find an activity
• Help children with their activity
• Encourage children to sit and behave properly
• Assist if necessary, in serving lunch and snacks to the children
• Help children wash hands and take care of toilet needs
• Keep the room orderly, clean, and safe
• Plan, coordinate, implement, chaperone field trips, outings, and nature walks in conjunction with curriculum activities
• Be responsible for the safety and physical well‑being of the children at all times
• File and record weekly records for each child’s language development on the "Language Development Record Sheet"
• File and schedule evaluations for each student and keep the child’s file updated
• Attend and participate in all in‑services, staff meetings, and parent council meetings
• Offer input to Director, and or Curriculum Materials Developer regarding activities and materials for the classroom
• Perform laundry duties associated with classroom and student needs
• Assist with transportation when Teacher is unavailable
• Food handling, preparation, cooking and serving as needed
• Cross‑train in all positions to create a team environment, and fill when needed
• Other duties as assigned to maintain and enhance the operation of the department
