Summary

The Elementary Teacher is responsible for the instruction of designated content area(s)/course(s) in a classroom setting within an elementary school.

• Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance. Physical presence is expected as part of a reliable and predictable pattern of attendance.
• Support the district’s vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan.
• Engage in civility, respect, and professionalism.
• Maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of their positions.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement appropriate instruction of content area(s)/course(s) assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
• Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
• Create and deliver relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.
• Utilize a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds to meet individual student needs.
• Observe and evaluate student performance and mastery of standards, monitor assessment data, and maintain student grades and attendance.
• Manage student behavior using effective classroom management strategies and appropriate disciplinary procedures.
• Communicate with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourage parental involvement.
• Ensure health and safety of students and protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain and secure confidential records, inquiries, and data.
• Maintain required certifications and professional development hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Information

Effective communication, job knowledge, judgment, project management, and planning & organization are essential skills.

Certificates/Licenses:
Florida Professional Educator Certificate in Elementary Education required.

Language

Skills:

Ability to interpret documents, respond to inquiries, and communicate effectively.

Mathematical

Skills:

Working knowledge of math concepts and practical application.

Reasoning Ability:
Practical problem-solving skills and interpretation of instructions.

Computer

Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Physical Demands

Activities include standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing. Lifting up to 10 pounds. Reaching overhead with both hands. Moderate noise environment.
