Job Description SummaryProvides assistance with measuring, mixing, counting out, labeling and recording amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders under the direction of a Pharmacist.
Role And Responsibilities- Receives written prescription or refill requests and verifies complete information.
- Prepares floor bulk medications, fills bottles, and affixes labels.
- Answers telephones, responds to questions or requests, and directs inquiries to appropriate departments.
- Maintains proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
- Assists facilities or departments by answering basic questions and referring to the pharmacist for medication information.
- Establishes or maintains patient medication profiles.
- Orders, labels, and counts stock of medications, chemicals, and supplies, entering data into pharmacy systems.
- Receives and stores incoming supplies, verifies quantity against invoices, checks for expired medications, and informs supervisor of shortages.
- Mixes pharmaceutical preparations per written prescriptions.
- Participates in special projects as needed.
- Provides minimal travel, including overnight stays as necessary.
- Supports location, departmental goals, and overall company objectives.
- Complies with all laws, regulations, standards of ethical conduct, and company policies, procedures, rules, and standards.
- Maintains uncompromising levels of cleanliness and safety, and performs all duties with a friendly, positive, team-oriented approach.
- Maintains professional/technical competencies and proficiency for job responsibilities.
- High School diploma or equivalent;
Associate degree preferred. - Pharmacy Technician as required by state regulatory requirements.
- One year of pharmacy technician experience preferred.
- Exemplary computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, stooping, walking, and moving intermittently during working hours. Must lift at least 50lbs and maintain verbal and written communication with coworkers, supervisors, residents, family members, visitors, vendors, and all business associates outside the health campus.
