Talent Manager, Employee Relations
Summary Of Primary Functions
The HR Generalist is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management. The position has primary responsibilities for employee relations, HR compliance, workers' compensation, leave administration, enforcing company policies, and serves as a resource for employees & managers. The position formulates partnerships across the organization to deliver value-added service to management and employees that supports the business objectives of the company.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Maintains employee records, ensuring completion and accuracy of details such as employee contact information, job classification, pay rates, organizational structure, and other key details.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Makes recommendations to add or improve policies.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff as needed.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; workers’ compensation and occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation to employees and managers.
- Serves as the initial contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee complaints.
- Advises and trains managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies for managing supervisor problems and employee grievances. Develops further training as needed.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Monitors completion of performance reviews. Coaches managers on providing effective feedback.
- Assists with developing, coordinating and recommending changes for the improvement of workflow in the area of responsibility.
- Creates HR reports as requested.
- Maintains up to date knowledge of employment law to ensure that Dobbs Equipment maintains compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Other duties as assigned.
- HR experience (including but not limited to benefits, leave, workers compensation).
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured by company's auto-insurance policies.
- Human Resource Management, 3 years of experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree (4-year) in Human Resources, Business Administration or relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- SHRM-CP or PHR Certification, preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both internally and externally, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and achieve goals with minimal supervision.
- Proficient with MS Office, with an emphasis in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS (ADP).
- Strong problem-solving skills; has the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
