Schedule:
Part Time, Friday & Saturday
Under the direction of the Director of Therapy, assumes delegated responsibility and accountability for the provision of rehabilitation services according to professional standards of practice in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
Your Responsibilities- Provides leadership and direction to the interdisciplinary team for patient discharge planning, following Medicare guidelines.
- Reviews clinical documentation (including MDS Assessments) in relation to Medicare guidelines, discharge planning, and insurance requirements.
- Provides leadership and solves issues related to the provision of rehabilitation services.
- Provides direct patient care in the area of professional expertise/discipline, meeting the clinical and State of Michigan regulatory requirements as outlined in the discipline‑specific job description.
- Supervises the rehabilitation department in the absence of the Director of Therapy.
- Develops reports, correspondence, and analysis with strong written and communication skills.
- Educates, influences, and supports rehabilitation staff and other disciplines with strong verbal communication skills.
- Exhibits strong leadership and customer‑relations skills.
- Utilizes working knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting.
- Exercises mature judgment and initiative in analyzing problems and recommending solutions to provide effective rehabilitation services.
- Recognizes and reacts effectively to the needs of various clinical age populations, demonstrated through academic/clinical education and training and/or experience.
- Conducts occupational therapy screenings and evaluations to determine patient independence with activities of daily living, including self‑care skills, work, and leisure.
- Provides occupational therapy treatments consistent with the professional and ethical standards of the AOTA.
- Develops and implements treatment plans using adaptations, strengthening, and retraining to reach patients’ highest potential for independence.
- Provides direct patient care in accordance with productivity standards by using graded activities to facilitate the restoration of physical and functional abilities.
- Checks, instructs, assigns, and reviews the work of OTAs and aides as assigned.
- Maintains quality of the medical record through accurate, continuous documentation related to reimbursement guidelines.
- Participates in patient care conferences and company‑mandated CQI activities.
- Promotes current clinical standards through continuing education and in‑service programs.
- Coordinates or participates in in‑service programs for internal/external groups.
- Participates in new program development and additional activities directed to facilitate effective departmental operations.
- Attends company meetings as directed.
- Successful completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
- Licensure required by the State of Michigan.
- Initiative and flexibility in a dynamic work environment.
- Professional judgement and initiative when analyzing problems and recommending solutions.
- Effective response to patient and family needs.
- Physical ability to bend, position, transfer, and lift patients weighing from 80 pounds to over 300 pounds without restriction, using clinically recommended lifting devices.
