The Senior Cost Control Engineer is responsible for leading cost control functions across projects to ensure accurate cost tracking, budget alignment, and financial transparency. The role ensures effective integration of cost management processes with planning, procurement, and finance, supporting strategic decision-making and corporate governance. This position also plays a key role in mentoring junior cost engineers and implementing best practices in cost management and ERP systems.
KeyAccountabilities Project Cost Monitoring & Reporting
- Lead the monitoring and analysis of project expenditures, commitments, and accruals.
- Prepare and validate comprehensive monthly cost reports highlighting variances and corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed cost breakdown structures (CBS) in coordination with planning and finance.
- Ensure earned value and cost performance indicators are consistently reported and aligned with PMO standards.
- Oversee budget uploads and cost data entry across ERP systems (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.).
- Ensure proper budget alignment across cost categories and work packages.
- Support ERP data validation and ensure consistency with financial reporting.
- Collaborate with Finance and IT to optimize ERP workflows for project cost tracking.
- Review and validate project expenditures against approved budgets and commitments.
- Endorse change requests and variation orders with cost impact analysis.
- Ensure accurate recording and coding of all project cost transactions.
- Recommend and implement enhancements to cost control policies, procedures, and templates.
- Ensure compliance with company financial, quality, and safety policies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and digital transformation in cost management practices.
- Mentor junior cost engineers and support competency development within the team.
- Project Controls, Cost Management, Construction, Infrastructure, and Oil & Gas.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in cost control within major construction or oil & gas projects, including at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role
- Strong command of cost accounting, forecasting, and earned value management principles
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent) and advanced Excel tools
- Experience integrating cost and schedule control data
Minimum Requirements
- Certification in Cost Engineering (e.g., CCP, AACE, or PMP) preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills
- Ability to interpret complex project financials and present insights to management
- Knowledge of PMO governance and corporate reporting standards.
- Cost tracking and reporting.
- Budgeting and variance analysis.
- ERP and cost management software proficiency.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams
Note:
Prior experience with CCS & Oracle is preferred
