JOB SUMMARY

  • A Commercial Manager (Mining) is responsible for overseeing the commercial aspects of the Ajlan & Bros Mining (ABM) Joint Venture operations as a JV Partner, including financial management, budget preparation and reporting, contract negotiations oversight/input, and business development. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and senior management to ensure the success of exploration activities, mining projects and downstream processing.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement and support business systems to effectively manage and report on financial performance of the business against targets, including to external stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies to optimize revenue generation and profitability for mining operations.
  • Participate in the evaluation of potential business opportunities, including new exploration, mining or processing/refining projects, partnerships, and acquisitions.
  • Conduct financial analysis and prepare business cases to support investment decisions and project feasibility studies.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, prices, and competition to inform pricing strategies and maximize revenue.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to develop production plans and budgets, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, partners, and industry stakeholders to enhance business development opportunities.
  • Monitor and manage financial performance metrics, analyzing variances and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide accurate reporting and forecasting of financial/loan commitments across the business portfolio and where required participate in debt refinancing or restructuring.
  • Review offtake and forward sales agreements to ensure the most favorable terms for ABM
  • Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and budgets, providing accurate and timely information to senior management.
  • Implement cost control measures and process improvements to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies and procedures.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, mining regulations, and market conditions to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Lead and manage a team of commercial professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to drive high performance.
  • Collaborate with legal and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Participate in senior management meetings and contribute to the development and execution of overall business strategies.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5-10 years of related experience of which a minimum of 2 years should be in a similar position / responsibility, cross sector with a strong background in exploration, mining and processing of minerals.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, or related field. MBA or equivalent preferred.

ORGANIZATION-WIDE COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience in a commercial management role within the exploration, mining or processing industry.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Strong business development and relationship management abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of mining operations and industry trends.
  • Familiarity with relevant mining regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficient in financial software and tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel to mining sites and attend industry events as required.
