Role ContextThe Senior Planning Manager will oversee planning and scheduling performance across a major PMCM programme, ensuring that the Program Master Schedule remains accurate, integrated, and useful for decision-making. This position links the client, Project Director, contracts teams, design and engineering teams, construction directors, consultants, and project controls specialists so that schedule risks, design-stage impacts, construction progress, and recovery actions are clearly understood.
The role is critical for strengthening programme governance, improving planning capability, and maintaining disciplined progress evaluation across engineering and construction activities.
- Manage programme-wide planning, scheduling, and project controls activities for engineering and construction work streams.
- Maintain the Program Master Schedule and ensure it reflects approved scope, phasing, milestones, dependencies, and progress updates.
- Develop and implement strategic planning initiatives that support project objectives, client requirements, and company delivery goals.
- Provide specialized planning guidance to project teams when resolving difficult or complex schedule problems.
- Lead and manage the planning team, including supervision, mentoring, technical guidance, workload allocation, and performance evaluation.
- Interface with the client, PMCM consultants, Project Director, Contracts Managers, design teams, engineering teams, and construction directors.
- Attend regular coordination and progress meetings, providing planning updates, statistical reports, schedule analysis, and recommendations.
- Coordinate with multiple departments to align planning activities with project priorities, commercial requirements, design deliverables, and construction sequencing.
- Analyze market trends, industry developments, programme data, schedule information, and internal performance records to support planning decisions.
- Prepare and present detailed reports covering planning activities, progress status, schedule outcomes, risks, slippages, and recovery actions.
- Identify and mitigate risks linked to planning processes, schedule interfaces, design changes, construction delays, and programme delivery constraints.
- Ensure planning and scheduling activities comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, client procedures, and project governance requirements.
- Continuously improve planning processes, scheduling methodologies, reporting practices, and project controls workflows.
- Assess the schedule impact of design changes, construction changes, delays, slippages, revised sequences, and contractor performance issues.
- Support integration of scope, cost, and schedule within the WBS, ensuring mapping remains accurate and current.
- Review schedule submissions, baseline updates, progress records, and planning deliverables for quality, logic, accuracy, and completeness.
- Support senior management with reliable planning intelligence, early warning reports, and practical schedule recovery recommendations.
- Promote consistent use of Primavera Enterprise Systems and support effective adoption of current scheduling technologies.
- Monitor emerging AI scheduling tools and help assess how they can improve planning visibility, forecasting, and productivity.
- Maintain strong planning discipline across the programme by encouraging accountability, timely updates, and clear ownership of deliverables.

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a recognized university.
- Minimum 15 years of work experience in project controls and scheduling for engineering and construction activities.
- Supervisory or managerial experience leading planning, scheduling, or project controls teams.
- Extensive experience supporting projects at the design stage.
- Strong understanding of construction planning, engineering schedules, programme controls, WBS structures, progress measurement, and schedule integration.
- Knowledge of current Primavera Enterprise Systems scheduling technology and how it can be effectively used on major projects.
