We are hiring on behalf of a leading Tier 1 construction company in Saudi Arabia to deliver a project with a budget of 4 billion.
Project Director – Main ContractorJob Summary
The Project Director is responsible for the overall leadership, execution, and successful delivery of large-scale construction projects on behalf of the main contractor. The role oversees all construction, engineering, commercial, procurement, planning, and site operations to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual obligations and quality standards.
The successful candidate must have a proven track record working for leading construction/main contracting companies, managing the full construction lifecycle from mobilization through handover. Candidates with experience exclusively in consultancy or client/owner representative roles will not be considered.
The Project Director reports directly to the Operations Manager and serves as the primary point of contact with the client, consultants, subcontractors, and internal leadership.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the execution and delivery of major construction projects from award to final handover.
Provide strategic leadership to multidisciplinary project teams, including construction, engineering, planning, procurement, commercial, QA/QC, and HSE.
Ensure all construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the approved project schedule.
Develop and implement project execution strategies, construction methodologies, and resource plans.
Manage project budgets, cash flow, cost control, forecasting, and overall financial performance.
Lead contract administration and ensure compliance with contractual obligations (FIDIC or equivalent).
Oversee procurement activities, subcontractor selection, contract administration, and subcontractor performance.
Monitor project progress and implement recovery plans where necessary to achieve project milestones.
Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks while maximizing commercial opportunities.
Ensure compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and statutory regulations.
Lead progress meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and senior management.
Resolve commercial, technical, and construction-related issues throughout project execution.
Drive productivity, construction efficiency, and resource optimization across all disciplines.
Ensure the highest standards of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) performance.
Review and approve project schedules, reports, variations, claims, and payment applications.
Establish project KPIs and ensure project teams consistently achieve performance targets.
Represent the company professionally and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, authorities, and key stakeholders.
Qualifications & RequirementsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline.
Master's degree is an advantage.
Minimum 18 years of experience in the construction industry.
Minimum 8–10 years in senior project leadership roles managing large-scale construction projects for a main contractor.
Mandatory experience working for Tier 1 construction/main contracting companies.
Candidates with consultancy-only or client-side experience will not be considered.
Proven track record of delivering mega construction projects from mobilization through completion.
Strong understanding of construction methodologies, site operations, and project execution.
Extensive experience managing subcontractors, procurement, construction planning, and commercial performance.
Strong knowledge of FIDIC and construction contract administration.
Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong commercial and financial management capabilities.
Fluent in English;
Arabic is an advantage.
PMP certification or equivalent is preferred.

The ideal candidate will have successfully delivered major construction projects while working for reputable main contracting companies within the GCC or internationally. Experience should include direct responsibility for construction execution, subcontractor management, commercial performance, and project delivery.
