The Planning Manager will direct planning and scheduling activities for a major building project within the Qiddiya development in Riyadh. The role is responsible for assessing contractor programmes, confirming reported progress, identifying schedule deviations, reviewing delay claims, and providing accurate planning intelligence to the client and corporate leadership.
By maintaining credible schedules and disciplined reporting procedures, the Planning Manager will help project stakeholders address emerging delays, protect key milestones, and improve contractor performance.
Key Responsibilities- Review contractor baseline programmes, updated schedules, recovery plans, look‑ahead schedules, and progress reports.
- Provide detailed technical comments on programme logic, activity sequencing, durations, resources, constraints, critical paths, and milestone compliance.
- Prepare and review construction programmes using Primavera P6.
- Chair planning workshops with contractors and provide guidance required for baseline programme acceptance.
- Establish effective schedule monitoring, progress measurement, forecasting, and reporting practices.
- Review and verify contractor daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Confirm the accuracy and consistency of daily progress information.
- Prepare regular planning reports for the employer, client representatives, corporate management, and executive leadership.
- Contribute to weekly and monthly progress reporting cycles.
- Verify contractor progress against approved work inspection requests and supporting project records.
- Monitor actual site progress against the approved baseline schedule.
- Identify delayed activities, programme slippage, emerging constraints, and deviations from planned performance.
- Conduct site inspections when required to validate reported progress.
- Analyze complex contractor delay claims and supporting schedule submissions.
- Prepare clear delay assessment reports, findings, and recommendations for the client.
- Review detailed three‑week look‑ahead schedules for upcoming construction activities.
- Evaluate the scheduling of time‑critical work and interfaces between disciplines.
- Attend progress, commercial, planning, and project controls meetings.
- Chair coordination meetings when requested.
- Prepare or review meeting minutes, action items, and planning follow‑up records.
- Coordinate with construction, engineering, commercial, contracts, and project controls teams.
- Present schedule status, risks, delays, and recovery requirements to different management levels.
- Mentor Parsons personnel and contractor planning staff in Primavera P6, programme preparation, and progress reporting.
- Promote consistent planning standards and reliable reporting throughout the project.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
- Minimum 12 years of planning, scheduling, construction supervision, or project controls experience.
- Significant project management consultancy experience on major construction programmes.
- Strong background in planning and monitoring building construction activities.
- Advanced hands‑on expertise in Primavera P6.
- Experience preparing and reviewing baseline programmes, revised schedules, recovery plans, and periodic updates.
- Strong knowledge of critical path methodology, schedule logic, activity sequencing, and milestone management.
- Proven ability to analyze complex contractor delay claims.
- Experience preparing delay analysis reports and recommendations for clients.
- Practical knowledge of progress measurement, forecasting, schedule variance analysis, and performance reporting.
