The Senior Quantity Surveyor must be speaking and writing, with strong English speaking and writing skills, and is responsible for management and production of:
- Timely, accurate, high-quality, and comprehensive estimates, cost plans, bills of quantities and specifications for architecture, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering disciplines for large scale, complex building and infrastructure design projects,
- Carrying out all quantity surveying activities in conformance with all applicable Saudi and international codes, design/construction standards and codes of practice,
- Coordination with the Project Managers, Discipline Leads, sub-consultants, and contractors as required for completion of cost plans, specifications, and bills of quantities,
- Strong working knowledge of all required quantity surveying related codes / standards, design and construction practices, for complex design/construction projects.
Critical outcomes of this role include producing accurate, timely and high-quality cost plans, specifications, and bills of quantities for large scale, complex building and infrastructure design projects, and coordination of these with all other required design disciplines such as architectural, mechanical and electrical engineering and quantity surveying.
This role requires the use of your existing network of other cost management professionals, suppliers, and contractors from whom relevant cost-related information can be sourced.
The role requires building and maintaining professional relationships with internal stakeholders, other consultants, contractors, including coordinating with Lead Engineers, and Project Managers to assist with submittal of overall project deliverables for concept, schematic, and detailed design stage submissions in line with planned project timelines.
Job Duties
The Senior Quantity Surveyor shall manage, plan, and carry out.
- Preparation and reviewing of Specifications in CSI Master Format or similar,
- Reviewing the structural and architectural drawing packages and raising RFIs and QA/QC comments.
- Measurement, taking off of all items and quantities associated with architecture, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering, for specific complex design projects as directed by the Cost Manager, to the required quality project timeline, and design budget,
- Preparation of detailed construction cost plans for design projects against the designs developed at each design stage of the project,
- Obtain all data and follow up with Design Leads, Project Managers, other company staff, other consultants, and contractors so that production of cost plans, specifications and bills of quantities are completed in an accurate, timely manner, to the required quality,
- Establish and build professional relationships with other staff, other consultants, contractors,
- Understand the project brief,
- Assist Project Manager with the preparation and implementation of the project cost plans, bills of quantities and specifications in coordination with the assigned project team,
- Manage value engineering exercises,
- Coordinate with internal disciplines and teams within ECEC and with 3rd parties in relation to technical, financial, safety, quality, schedule and other elements of a project, so that accurate cost plans, specifications and bills of quantities are produced.
Specifically, the Senior Cost Planner and Quantity Surveyor is responsible for:
- Preparation of cost plans, specifications, and bills of quantities (using the CSI format) for multiple large scale, complex building and infrastructure design projects,
- Assists the Cost and QS Manager on matters that cross between interfacing elements, projects,
- Work proactively, constructively, and fairly with all parties to ensure the successful execution of duties,
Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as directed, and as may be appropriate.
Qualifications
- Degree qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Civil or Architectural Engineering.
- Previous Experience in Healthcare, Towers & Mixed- used projects is preferred but not essential.
