Role ContextThe Project Planner will convert complex engineering and construction activities into structured, measurable delivery schedules that give project teams clear visibility of milestones, dependencies, constraints, and emerging delays. Working across technical and project management disciplines, the role will evaluate the practicality of proposed plans, monitor performance against established schedules, and provide analysis that enables management to make informed decisions before schedule issues affect critical project objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Develop detailed project schedules for infrastructure, rail, transportation, construction, and engineering assignments.
- Establish planning criteria, activity structures, sequencing, milestones, and schedule logic aligned with project delivery requirements.
- Use Primavera P6 to build, update, maintain, and analyze integrated project schedules.
- Evaluate proposed planning outputs for feasibility, completeness, logical sequencing, and alignment with project objectives.
- Monitor actual progress against approved schedules and identify deviations requiring corrective attention.
- Analyze critical and near-critical activities to determine potential effects on key contractual and project milestones.
- Review schedule dependencies and interfaces between engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and other delivery activities.
- Gather progress information from project teams and validate inputs before incorporating updates into the schedule.
- Support development of schedule forecasts based on actual progress, outstanding scope, constraints, and current performance trends.
- Coordinate planning information across project management, engineering, construction, commercial, and project controls functions.
- Review contractor and consultant schedules and identify inconsistencies, unrealistic assumptions, or potential delivery conflicts.
- Assess planning implications arising from project changes, technical developments, revised priorities, and emerging risks.
- Support recovery and mitigation planning where progress indicates potential schedule slippage.
- Maintain planning records and schedule information in accordance with established project controls procedures.
- Prepare progress reports, schedule narratives, milestone assessments, and planning analysis for management review.
- Provide technical planning advice to project stakeholders on scheduling methodology, sequencing, and delivery priorities.
- Evaluate assigned planning activities and recommend improvements to processes, controls, reporting, and schedule management practices.
Candidates should hold a bachelor 's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field and possess at least 10 years of professional project planning and scheduling experience. Previous involvement in large-scale infrastructure, rail, transportation, construction or engineering projects is important. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to develop and assess complex schedules, analyze progress, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, and communicate schedule implications clearly to project stakeholders.
Primavera P6 expertise is highly desirable due to the complexity and scale of the programs supported by this position. Primavera P6 Certification, PMP, or an AACE professional certification provides additional value.
