Signage & Wayfinding Designer
Position SummaryDesigns and implements integrated signage and information systems that help people navigate complex environments, ensuring intuitive, accessible, and brand-aligned way finding solutions for diverse user groups for the client project.
Key Responsibilities- Research & Analysis:
Conduct site analysis, user research (interviews, surveys), and understand architectural plans and user behavior. Study existing and evolving reports for the project to understand and be able to implement agreed and approved strategies. - Strategy & Concept:
Develop overarching way finding strategies, concepts, and visual systems. Review other consultants’ work to align with approved client systems and approved Masterplan and Guidelines. - Design & Development:
Create signage, symbols, maps, digital guides, and prototypes, integrating branding and accessibility. Review other consultants’ work to align with approved client systems and approved Masterplan and Guidelines. - Collaboration:
Work with architects, client, PMC’s, contractors and manufacturers, to coordinate Public Realm, Asset Designs and Infrastructure. - Implementation:
Review shop drawings and construction documents, manage mock-ups, and oversee production/installation. - Accessibility:
Ensure compliance with standards (e.g., ADA) and cater to diverse needs (visual, physical).
- Often collaborative, working across design, architecture, and construction teams. Ideal candidate will have experience with review and assessment of way finding systems from strategy through to detailed design for implementation.
- May involve some site visits and travel.
- Focus on enhancing user experience, reducing stress, and improving clarity in challenging environments within the client’s project.
- Attend workshops with client and consultants to achieve required outcomes.
- Education:
Degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture or related field. - Experience:
8+ proven experience in signage, environmental graphics, or way finding. - Skills:
Strong visual design, problem‑solving, communication, user empathy, understanding of spatial orientation, and knowledge of accessibility principles. - Software:
Proficiency in design software (Revit/Revizto, Adobe Creative Suite, CAD, Sketch Up are a plus).
