Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in architecture, is essential with Saudi Council of Engineer Certificate (SCE)
- Minimum 7 years of related work experience in Saudi Arabia as an AoR within a design consultancy. Experience in municipalities, Amana, Baladiya, and civil defence.
- Must be a Saudi citizen.
- The AoR must have a working knowledge of all relevant government authority requirements.
- Experience in design drafting using Revit and AutoCAD; design drafting experience on complex building projects is preferred.
The primary responsibility of Architect of Record (AoR) is to achieve an efficient and timely approval of all project designs by the relevant Government Authorities, including the Municipalities, Amana, Baladiya, Civil Defense, RCRC, DGDA – in coordination with the Design Project Managers, Lead Architect, for complex projects.
The AoR must have extensive experience and a working knowledge of all relevant Government Authority requirements, architecture codes, standards, design and construction practices, and drawing practices, land and property titles, survey plans, plot regulations, the Government online master planning approval systems for complex projects, including residential, commercial, hospitality, healthcare, and industrial projects.
Critical outcomes of this role include obtaining the Project Building Permit and facilitating achievement of the Project Building Occupation Certificate for complex projects. This will require coordination with all relevant Government Authorities and internal coordination with the project management and design teams, including the architectural, fire life safety, mechanical and electrical engineering, and quantity surveying disciplines.
The role requires building and maintaining strong professional relationships with key staff within all Authorities, other consultants, contractors, and coordinating within the company with other design architects, engineers, Lead Architect, Design Director, and design managers to assist with submittal of all project deliverables required to achieve Authority approvals, in line with planned project timelines.
Job DutiesFor specific allocated projects, in coordination with the Project Manager, Lead Architect, manage, plan and carry out the following:
- Obtain all data and follow up with project managers, Lead Architect, other company staff, other consultants so that production of drawings and renderings meet the required format, content, and quality.
- Establish and build professional relationships with key staff within Government Authorities, other staff, other Consultants, contractors.
- Understand the project brief and scope of work.
- Participate in and contribute to design reviews and presentations.
- Coordinate with internal disciplines and teams within ECEC and with 3rd parties in relation to technical, safety, quality, schedule and other elements of a project, so that accurate architecture drawings and renders are produced, meeting the requirements to achieve all Government Authority approval.
- Reporting on and tracking the progress of all Authority approvals for multiple complex design projects and construction projects.
- Assisting the Project Managers and Lead Architect on matters that cross between interfacing elements and projects.
- Working proactively, constructively, and fairly with all parties to ensure the successful execution of duties.
- Performing other responsibilities associated with this position as directed, and as may be appropriate.
- Good level of competence in BIM (Revit), AutoCAD and other drafting and rendering software – preferred.
- Excellent working knowledge of internationally accepted architecture, design industry principles and practices, safety, and quality systems.
- Excellent knowledge of current Authority requirements, architecture design standards, including the Saudi Building Code.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent problem‐solving, numeracy, and Arabic and English literacy skills.
