The Director will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders and partners to ensure design excellence, sustainability and compliance with industry standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the design and planning of the Qiddiya sports assets working closely with the Qiddiya Development Lead and the design managers (MEP, Structures, Civils, Public Realm).
- Provide architectural design management on the assets, working closely with the LDC and any other sub-consultants.
- Provide insights into design solutions that might bring cost savings or other benefits to constructibility, future operations, etc.
- Ensure coordination of design and engineering with all disciplines.
- Closely work with the development team to align to budgets and project timescales.
- Manage weekly design meetings.
- Coordinate with the Master developer where required.
- Ensure the assets meet all building codes, including City Framework standards and other standards required by relevant sports stakeholders and federations, and keep abreast of any changing codes.
- Ensure consultants meet their deliverables as per the contract.
- Oversee the review of all drawings and deliverables, approving or commenting as required.
- Coordinate closely with relevant subject matter experts on sports and building technology to ensure best‑in‑class swimming and training facilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Design, or a related field;
Master's degree preferred. - 12+ years of progressive experience in design leadership, preferably focused on sports facilities or large‑scale entertainment projects.
- Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary design teams successfully.
- Strong strategic, creative, and problem‑solving skills with a focus on innovation and sustainability.
- Proficiency in design and project management software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and similar tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience engaging diverse stakeholders.
- Comprehensive knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and sustainable design principles relevant to sports and entertainment facilities.
