Junior Architectural Engineer (Buildings)
The Architectural Engineer supports the delivery of architectural works by assisting in the review, coordination, and implementation of design and construction activities on site.
Working under the guidance of the Senior Architectural Engineer and reporting to the Design Manager, the role contributes to shop drawing reviews, site inspections, technical documentation, and multidisciplinary coordination to ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
The role is primarily site-focused, with responsibility for resolving day-to-day construction issues and supporting technical workflows. As part of this, the Architectural Engineer is expected to actively contribute to basic drafting, detailing, and preparation of sketches or redline drawings where required to support construction activities (e.g., temporary works, site‑driven adjustments), ensuring timely and practical solutions without over‑reliance on dedicated drafting resources.
KeyAccountabilities & Key Activities
- Provide day‑to‑day architectural engineering support on site, addressing construction queries, RFIs, and technical clarifications.
- Review architectural works on site to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, mock‑ups, and samples.
- Identify architectural site issues, discrepancies, or non‑conformances and support their resolution in coordination with the Senior Architectural Engineer.
- Coordinate architectural activities with structural, MEPF, façade, and fit‑out works to avoid clashes and execution conflicts.
- Support snagging, inspections, and quality reviews of architectural works and finishes.
- Prepare and update architectural sketches, mark‑ups, and simple drawings/details as required to support construction activities (e.g., temporary works, minor design adjustments, site‑driven solutions).
- Assist in producing red line drawings and as‑built markups based on site conditions.
- Provide hands‑on drafting support (AutoCAD/Revit) when required, ensuring timely resolution of site issues without over‑reliance on dedicated drafting resources.
- Ensure that all issued sketches/drawings are clear, coordinated, and aligned with approved design intent.
- Review architectural shop drawings, material submittals, and samples under supervision.
- Ensure compliance with design intent, specifications, and project standards.
- Assist in preparing comments and tracking submittal status.
- Verify that approved drawings and materials are properly implemented on site.
- Support preparation and review of as‑built drawings.
- Assist in preparing responses to RFIs and Technical Queries (TQs).
- Support documentation and tracking of NCRs and site observations.
- Coordinate with the Senior Architectural Engineer to resolve technical issues.
- Maintain records of technical correspondence and site decisions.
- Coordinate with structural, MEPF, façade, and fit‑out teams for smooth execution.
- Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers on technical matters.
- Attend coordination meetings and report updates to senior team members.
- Ensure proper use of project workflows and document control systems.
- Develop knowledge of architectural detailing, materials, and construction practices.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned.
- Seek guidance and mentorship from senior engineers.
- Contribute to maintaining quality standards and best practices.
- Design & Build engineering projects within the construction industry.
- Multidisciplinary engineering coordination across design and site delivery stages.
- Minimum 4–7 years of relevant experience in construction or design projects
- Experience in reviewing drawings, submittals, and supporting site execution
- Basic understanding of multidisciplinary coordination (architectural, structural, MEP)
- Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, and construction workflows
- Good command of English (written and spoken)
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Architecture).
- Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Professional or engineering certification/licensing is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM tools
- Understanding of construction drawings and specifications
- Ability to review and interpret technical documents
- Basic knowledge of QA/QC processes and site inspections
- Good organizational and documentation skills
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
