Job Description Overview

The Senior Interior Architect will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and overseeing interior architectural solutions for refurbishment, rehabilitation, fit‑out, and workplace enhancement projects. The role combines technical expertise, space planning, design coordination, stakeholder engagement, and site implementation support to ensure successful project delivery. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, providing specialist interior architecture expertise focused on functionality, user experience, quality, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Your role

Interior Architecture & Space Planning

  • Develop innovative interior architectural solutions that improve functionality, user experience, and operational performance.
  • Undertake space planning, workplace planning, and occupancy assessments.
  • Prepare and review interior layouts, space programs, and design concepts.
  • Analyze existing facilities and identify opportunities for enhancement, optimization, and rehabilitation.
  • Support the development of user‑centric environments aligned with project objectives and operational requirements.

Rehabilitation & Fit‑Out Design Support

  • Support refurbishment, rehabilitation, and interior fit‑out projects from concept through implementation.
  • Review and develop interior architecture packages, material selections, finishes, and detailing solutions.
  • Evaluate existing spaces and provide recommendations for improvement and adaptation.
  • Ensure design solutions balance aesthetics, functionality, maintainability, and budget requirements.
  • Assist in developing practical and cost‑effective design solutions.

FF&E Coordination

  • Develop and review Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E) recommendations.
  • Coordinate furniture layouts and workplace design solutions.
  • Review material samples, schedules, specifications, and supplier submissions.
  • Support procurement teams with technical assessments and recommendations.
  • Ensure consistency between FF&E selections and overall design intent.

Design Review & Technical Coordination

  • Review architectural and interior design packages prepared by consultants and project teams.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary coordination workshops and design review meetings.
  • Ensure alignment between interior architecture, building systems, and operational requirements.
  • Review design compliance with applicable regulations, accessibility requirements, and project standards.
  • Provide technical comments and recommendations to improve project outcomes.

Site Support & Implementation Monitoring

  • Undertake site inspections during fit‑out and construction activities.
  • Monitor workmanship, material quality, and compliance with approved designs.
  • Review shop drawings, mock‑ups, material submissions, and contractor proposals.
  • Identify risks, defects, and non‑conformances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support successful project implementation through effective technical oversight.

Stakeholder Management

  • Engage with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams to understand project objectives and requirements.
  • Present design proposals, technical findings, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Support decision‑making through clear communication and technical reporting.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships across project teams.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare technical reports, assessment studies, design review comments, and presentation materials.
  • Maintain project documentation and issue registers.
  • Contribute to project progress reporting and design coordination activities.
  • Ensure all design information is accurately documented and communicated.
About you Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Architecture, Interior Design, Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Master’s Degree is desirable.
  • Professional registration or membership with a recognized design or architectural institution is preferred.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in interior architecture and fit‑out projects.
  • Proven experience in rehabilitation, refurbishment, workplace, commercial, cultural, public‑sector, or institutional projects.
