JobPurpose
The Interior
Designer & Draftsman is responsible for developing creative, functional interior design concepts and producing accurate technical drawings for offices, commercial spaces, and operational environments.
The role includes space planning, 2D drafting, 3D visualization, material and furniture selection, preparation of shop and as-built drawings, and coordination with project managers, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will ensure that all designs and drawings align with business requirements, brand standards, technical specifications, safety regulations, and project objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Develop creative and functional interior design concepts based on project and client requirements.
- Prepare space-planning layouts, furniture layouts, mood boards, material boards, and design presentations.
- Produce accurate 2D drawings, including floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, and detailed drawings.
- Prepare and update shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings.
- Convert design concepts, sketches, and engineering instructions into detailed technical drawings.
- Create high-quality 3D models, visualizations, and renderings to support project proposals and presentations.
- Select and specify furniture, materials, finishes, lighting fixtures, colors, and decorative elements.
- Add dimensions, technical specifications, symbols, and material details to drawings.
- Conduct site visits, take accurate measurements, and assess project and operational requirements.
- Ensure drawings accurately reflect site conditions and approved design changes.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and vendors throughout project execution.
- Identify and resolve potential conflicts between architectural, civil, electrical, and mechanical drawings.
- Review contractor shop drawings, samples, technical submissions, and material submittals.
- Support cost-estimation, quantity take-off, furniture selection, and material-selection activities.
- Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and client presentations.
- Ensure designs and drawings comply with applicable codes, standards, safety requirements, and company guidelines.
- Incorporate feedback from clients, consultants, and project stakeholders into revised designs and drawings.
- Maintain organized project documentation, approved drawings, revision records, specifications, and design files.
- Follow document-control procedures, drawing-numbering systems, and file-naming standards.
- Manage multiple design assignments and deliver drawings according to approved project timelines.
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Architectural Drafting, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in interior design and technical drafting.
- Proven experience in office, commercial, or operational-space projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Sketch Up is required.
- Experience with rendering software such as Lumion, Enscape, 3ds Max, V-Ray, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of Revit or other Building Information Modeling software is an advantage.
- Experience preparing detailed drawings, shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings.
- Strong understanding of space planning, furniture specifications, materials, finishes, lighting, and interior construction details.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with relevant building codes, drawing standards, and safety requirements.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Good communication, presentation, coordination, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Good command of technical English.
- A portfolio showcasing previous interior design and technical drafting work is required.
