Role Context The Senior Landscape Design Manager will guide the planning and design of landscape and public realm environments surrounding major sports assets. The role combines design leadership with urban planning coordination, ensuring planting, hardscape, irrigation, grading, street furniture, pedestrian areas, and open spaces operate as one coherent environment. The position will also connect individual sports developments with the wider city master plan.

By coordinating landscape character, movement networks, sustainability objectives, venue requirements, and public realm standards, the manager will help create attractive and functional destinations for athletes, spectators, residents, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review planting strategies, landscape layouts, irrigation systems, grading plans, hardscape proposals, street furniture, and public open spaces.
  • Coordinate multiple landscape packages to maintain consistency in design language, technical standards, and project quality.
  • Develop and review scopes of services for landscape architecture and urban design consultants.
  • Define clear consultant deliverables, responsibilities, interfaces, milestones, and design expectations.
  • Ensure planting plans, irrigation strategies, grading designs, and hardscape documentation are fully coordinated with other disciplines.
  • Review landscape packages against approved project briefs, schedules, design criteria, and quality requirements.
  • Maintain consistency between concept design, detailed design, tender documentation, and construction-stage information.
  • Ensure landscape and public realm designs comply with relevant building codes and city framework requirements.
  • Review designs against technical requirements issued by sports stakeholders and governing federations.
  • Incorporate venue-specific spatial and operational requirements into surrounding public realm environments.
  • Monitor changes in applicable codes, standards, policies, and guidelines and ensure current requirements are reflected in project documentation.
  • Coordinate with Master Development and City Planning teams to align sports assets with district and city-wide planning objectives.
  • Verify compliance with urban design standards, planning policies, development controls, and public realm frameworks.
  • Support integration of sports assets within the wider master plan and surrounding land uses.
  • Coordinate landscape design intent with Sport Business Unit development teams and Centre of Excellence Design Directors.
  • Resolve multidisciplinary issues affecting landscape, public realm, architecture, engineering, utilities, access, or operations.
  • Maintain clear communication of design constraints, dependencies, technical requirements, and outstanding decisions.
  • Oversee spatial integration of sports venues with transportation, pedestrian networks, public spaces, and adjacent developments.
  • Promote coherent landscape character and identity across related sports assets.
  • Improve visitor movement and experience through considered public realm planning and landscape design.
  • Address functional requirements for athletes, spectators, operational personnel, and general visitors.
  • Integrate active lifestyle, pedestrian, cycling, and sustainable mobility considerations into public realm proposals.
  • Guide development of water-efficient planting strategies suitable for Riyadh 's climatic conditions.
  • Review irrigation systems with emphasis on water conservation, maintainability, and landscape performance.
  • Encourage climate-responsive shading, planting, surface treatments, and material selection.
  • Coordinate sustainability requirements with relevant technical teams and specialist consultants.
