The BIM Engineer will support digital delivery across complex design and construction programs by converting project requirements into coordinated, accurate, and information-rich building models. The role combines advanced 3D modeling with technical coordination, data management, and quality control to improve design clarity and reduce construction-stage conflicts. Working across architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines, the position will identify coordination issues before they reach site, helping project teams minimize rework, improve constructability, and maintain reliable design information throughout the project lifecycle.
The role also strengthens BIM governance by applying consistent standards, naming conventions, information exchange requirements, and model review procedures. Accurate digital coordination will directly support design development, construction administration, handover readiness, and long-term project information quality.
- Develop and maintain coordinated 3D Building Information Models using Revit, ArchiCAD, Navisworks, or equivalent BIM platforms.
- Integrate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing information into coordinated project models.
- Perform detailed clash detection and identify spatial or technical conflicts between disciplines.
- Generate clash reports and coordinate resolution actions with designers, engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Produce drawings, schedules, technical documentation, and construction information from BIM models.
- Maintain model accuracy throughout design development and construction phases.
- Apply approved BIM standards, protocols, execution procedures, and information management requirements.
- Interpret project briefs, design criteria, building codes, and technical standards when developing BIM deliverables.
- Review incoming discipline models before federation and coordination.
- Maintain structured BIM file systems, folder hierarchies, naming conventions, and revision controls.
- Manage model versions to ensure project teams are working from current and approved information.
- Conduct model audits and quality assurance checks to identify geometry, data, coordination, or documentation issues.
- Verify BIM deliverables for completeness, consistency, and compliance with project requirements.
- Support design teams during concept, detailed design, and technical documentation stages.
- Assist construction teams with BIM information required during construction administration.
- Support as-built model development and digital handover requirements.
- Develop model-based visualizations that improve communication of design and construction intent.
- Coordinate complex MEP systems within architectural and structural constraints.
- Resolve modeling challenges through practical technical analysis and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Participate in BIM coordination meetings and provide clear updates on outstanding issues.
- Support the development and implementation of BIM Execution Plans.
- Assist with project information exchange requirements and model delivery schedules.
- Provide technical guidance to project staff on BIM tools, modeling methods, and coordination workflows.
- Help train team members in software utilization and project-specific BIM processes.
- Coordinate CAD and BIM documentation to maintain consistency between model and drawing outputs.
- Support integration between BIM platforms and digital documentation systems.
- Maintain technical records that provide traceability for model changes and coordination decisions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of digital engineering workflows.
- Apply knowledge of sustainable design and green building principles where relevant to project requirements.
- Maintain close coordination with architects, engineers, project managers, contractors, and specialist consultants.
