Role ContextThe Consultant Dermatologist will take senior clinical responsibility for patients requiring specialist evaluation and treatment of a broad range of dermatological disorders. The position encompasses detailed assessment, diagnosis, therapeutic decision-making, appropriate procedures, patient counseling, and structured follow-up. Managing persistent and complicated dermatological conditions will form an important part of the workload. Through accurate diagnosis and individualized treatment strategies, the Consultant will support improved clinical outcomes, continuity of care, and effective management of patients requiring ongoing specialist supervision.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive consultations for patients with dermatological symptoms and conditions.
- Obtain detailed medical histories and perform appropriate clinical examinations.
- Diagnose a wide spectrum of common, chronic, recurrent, and complex dermatological disorders.
- Develop differential diagnoses and determine appropriate investigations when required.
- Formulate individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient circumstances.
- Manage complex cases requiring advanced Dermatology expertise and continuing specialist oversight.
- Provide long-term management for patients with chronic dermatological conditions.
- Perform appropriate dermatological procedures within the authorized scope of specialist practice.
- Review relevant diagnostic findings and incorporate results into treatment decisions.
- Prescribe appropriate therapies and evaluate patient response to treatment.
- Modify management strategies when clinical progress indicates a different therapeutic approach.
- Counsel patients regarding their diagnosis, treatment choices, procedures, and expected outcomes.
- Provide guidance regarding treatment adherence, continuing skin care, and relevant preventive measures.
- Conduct follow-up consultations and monitor disease progression or treatment response.
- Recognize complications, adverse reactions, or changing symptoms requiring further clinical intervention.
- Maintain accurate medical records covering consultations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment decisions, and follow-up care.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and consistently uphold professional medical standards.
- Coordinate specialist referrals when additional medical expertise is necessary.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to support coordinated patient care.
- Maintain rigorous standards of clinical quality and patient safety.
The preferred candidate should hold an MD, DNB, Board certification, Fellowship, PhD, or equivalent recognized higher specialty qualification in Dermatology. Several years of professional Dermatology experience are required, including substantial post-qualification clinical practice. The candidate should demonstrate strong diagnostic capability and practical experience treating diverse dermatological conditions, including complex and chronic cases. Competence in appropriate dermatological procedures should be supported by confident treatment planning and effective monitoring of clinical response.
