The Consultant Dermatologist will provide specialist assessment and continuing care for patients presenting with varied dermatological conditions. The position covers the full clinical pathway, including consultation, diagnosis, treatment selection, appropriate procedures, patient counseling, progress monitoring, and follow-up management. Effective performance in this role supports accurate diagnosis, appropriate therapeutic intervention, improved patient outcomes, and consistent standards of clinical care. The Consultant will also collaborate with other healthcare professionals when dermatological cases require coordinated multidisciplinary management.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct detailed consultations and assess patients presenting with dermatological symptoms.
- Review medical histories and perform comprehensive skin examinations.
- Diagnose a wide range of common, chronic, recurrent, and complex dermatological conditions.
- Establish differential diagnoses and determine whether additional investigations are required.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient needs.
- Manage complex dermatology cases requiring advanced specialist judgment.
- Provide ongoing treatment for chronic skin conditions and monitor long-term progress.
- Perform appropriate dermatological procedures within the approved specialist scope of practice.
- Review diagnostic findings and incorporate results into treatment decisions.
- Monitor treatment effectiveness and modify therapeutic approaches when clinically necessary.
- Counsel patients regarding diagnoses, available treatment options, expected outcomes, and ongoing care.
- Provide practical guidance on treatment adherence, skin care, and preventive measures.
- Conduct follow-up consultations to evaluate patient response and identify emerging concerns.
- Recognize complications or adverse treatment responses and initiate appropriate management.
- Maintain accurate medical records for consultations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, and follow-up care.
- Protect patient confidentiality and comply with professional clinical standards.
- Coordinate referrals and specialist input when conditions require additional expertise.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Maintain high standards of patient safety, clinical quality, and professional medical practice.
The preferred candidate should hold an MD, DNB, Board certification, Fellowship, PhD, or equivalent recognized higher specialty qualification in Dermatology. Several years of professional Dermatology experience are required, including substantial post-qualification clinical practice. Candidates should be comfortable managing a diverse patient caseload and demonstrate strong capability in diagnosis, treatment planning, chronic disease management, and appropriate dermatological procedures.
