English Teaching Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teaching Assistant to support classroom instruction, enhance student learning experiences, and contribute to a positive educational environment. The ideal candidate will assist lead teachers in delivering engaging lessons, provide one‑on‑one or small‑group support, and help create an atmosphere that encourages language development, confidence, and academic growth.

• Assist the lead teacher in planning and delivering English language lessons.
• Support students with reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities.
• Provide individualized or small‑group instruction to reinforce key concepts.
• Help create teaching materials, worksheets, and classroom resources.
• Support classroom management to maintain a positive, respectful environment.
• Assist in assessing student progress and providing feedback to the teacher.
• Encourage student participation and monitor engagement during activities.
• Help organize classroom displays, learning centers, and educational tools.
• Participate in school events, meetings, and training sessions as needed.
• Offer additional tutoring or support for students who need extra help.

• Strong proficiency in English (spoken and written).
• Previous experience assisting in a classroom or tutoring is an asset.
• Understanding of basic teaching methods and learning strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• A high school diploma is required; post‑secondary education or TEFL / TESOL certification is a plus.
