Science Teacher

Job Summary

Creating a climate for learning, setting teaching objectives, challenging students, setting expectations, attending to SEN students, maintaining discipline, using varied teaching strategies, assessing student progress, participating in curriculum development, and taking part in extracurricular activities.

• Lesson planning and teaching: planning for outstanding teaching and learning through creating a climate for learning, clear objectives, tasks that challenge students, maintaining pace, using varied strategies, and differentiation for SEN or high-ability students.
• Maintaining discipline: following the school’s ‘Behavior for Learning Policy’ and encouraging punctuality, behavior, standards of work and homework.
• Assessment and recording: assessing how well objectives have been achieved, using assessment for learning, marking students’ work at least once every two weeks, setting targets for progress, and using performance data to inform planning.
• Keeping records: recording progress systematically, checking work, monitoring strengths and areas for development, informing planning, and recognizing students’ levels of achievement.
• Exam duties: undertaking assessment as requested by examination bodies, departmental and school procedures, preparing and presenting informative reports to parents, and invigilating exams as required.
• Curriculum development: taking part in subject development by producing, reviewing and updating curriculum plans and schemes of work, and keeping subject knowledge up-to-date through CPD and professional reading.
• Professional conduct: operating at all times within the stated policies and practices, establishing effective working relationships with colleagues, and setting an outstanding example to stakeholders through personal and professional conduct.
• Extra‑curricular activities: offering at least one after‑school activity each term and contributing to the wider life of the school through meetings, marketing, liaison activities and events with partner schools.
• Staff duties: undertaking staff duties in line with the duty rota and covering for absent colleagues as required.

• Bachelor degree in relevant field is required.
• Experience – minimum 2–5 years.
• Competence in using a computer and capability to integrate technology into teaching effectively.
• Teaching License is required.
• Ability to relate to students, professional staff, parents/guardians, and members of the wider schools’ community.

Operate at all times within the stated policies and practices of the school. Establish effective working relationships with colleagues and set an outstanding example to stakeholders through personal and professional conduct. Take part in the extra‑curricular program by offering at least one after‑school activity each term. Contribute to the wider life of the school through effective participation in meetings, marketing and liaison activities such as Open Evenings, Parents Evenings and events with partner schools.

Undertake staff duties in line with the duty rota. Undertake exam invigilation duties as required. Cover for absent colleagues as required.
