Position: EFL Teacher (Academic English & EAP)

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced English Teacher with a strong background in Academic English and university preparation programmes
.

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare students for the linguistic and academic demands of higher education
  • Support learners in developing critical thinking, study skills, and academic confidence

Teaching will primarily focus on Pre-sessional and Academic English (EAP), with potential involvement in General English depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities Teaching & Learning
  • Plan and deliver interactive, student-centered lessons
  • Build students’ proficiency across reading, writing, listening, speaking, and academic vocabulary
  • Develop essential skills such as:
  • Paragraph writing
  • Skimming & scanning
  • Ensure alignment with course outcomes and EP academic standards
  • Address common language challenges, particularly for Arabic-speaking learners
Academic English (EAP) – Where Qualified
  • Teach advanced academic skills including:
  • Essay writing and structure
  • Referencing and paraphrasing
  • Critical thinking and data analysis
  • Prepare students for seminars, research tasks, and independent study
  • Familiarise learners with global academic conventions
Student Experience & Support
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
  • Encourage intuition, curiosity, and independent learning habits
  • Support students transitioning into higher education systems
Assessment & Feedback
  • Assess student work against established criteria
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold academic standards
Quality Assurance & Collaboration
  • Contribute to:
  • Placement testing and progress tracking
  • Quality assurance processes
  • Participate in CPD, training, and academic planning
  • Support Academic Managers with academic and administrative tasks
What We’re Looking For:

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (essential)
  • CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, or equivalent (essential)
Experience & Skills
  • 2–3 years’ post-CELTA teaching experience
    , ideally in:
  • Academic English / EAP
  • Experience in the Middle East or with Arabic-speaking learners (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Communicative language teaching methodologies
  • IELTS, Cambridge, and other academic English assessments
  • Confident using digital tools and VLEs (Moodle, Canvas, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability in a global environment
  • Passion for professional development and mentoring others
