Senior Mechanical Engineer – WSP in the Middle East
Job Description
As a Senior Engineer – Mechanical, you will lead piping design and engineering activities for large‑scale water transmission pipeline projects. The role includes preparing piping specifications, datasheets, and layout drawings; selecting materials; and reviewing hydraulic, transient, and stress analyses. You will evaluate tenders, vendor submissions, and engineering documents, providing technical support to project teams from design through construction. Responsibilities also involve ensuring compliance with international standards, attending project and factory acceptance meetings, and contributing to due diligence and progress reports.
Strong expertise in piping design software and water systems is essential.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of piping specifications, datasheets, bill of material and basic pipe layout drawings for water transmission line projects.
- Selection of pipe material and review of pipe sizing calculations, hydraulic calculations, transient analysis and pipe stress analysis, preferably for water transmission pipeline projects.
- Technical evaluation of tenders, vendor offers, bids; preparation and closure of clarifications and report preparation related to piping work.
- Review of engineering drawings and documents related to the piping system.
- General technical support to utility companies, plant owners, project developers, banks and governments pre/post financial close for new build plants as well as existing operational plants on piping works.
- Assist the iCRC group team leader in planning and allocating team resources and tasks.
- Provide technical support to the pre‑contract and project delivery teams on matters concerning the design, construction and operation of water transmission pipelines and associated equipment.
- Detail design of piping in water projects and use of the associated pipe modelling and analysis software packages.
- Technical evaluation of tender submissions and report preparation related to piping.
- Preparation of basic and detail piping technical specifications, datasheets and pipe layout drawings.
- Review of piping design and sizing calculations and drawings of contractors, subcontractors and vendors.
- Attend and contribute in team and project meetings.
- Reporting and monitoring of site progress to project manager/client.
- Attend factory acceptance tests for any equipment manufactured in India and abroad.
- Support on the preparation of due diligence and operation reports related to piping work.
- Review of method statements/test procedures submitted by contractors for power, desalination and sewage treatment plant site activities related to piping work.
- Support on the review and preparation of monthly and quarterly construction progress reports related to piping work.
- Maintain an awareness of technological advances and industry best practice.
Qualifications
- Good computer skills.
- Knowledge of long‑distance transmission pipelines is desired.
- Professional engineering license preferred.
- Knowledge of IWTP contracts is an advantage.
