Backup Consultant

Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Backup Consultant to join our team in Riyadh. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of our enterprise backup and storage systems. You will ensure the integrity, availability, and recoverability of critical data across diverse environments, serving as the subject matter expert for all data protection initiatives.

• Design, implement, and manage comprehensive backup and recovery strategies for the organization.
• Operate, maintain, and optimize enterprise backup and storage systems, including but not limited to:
• Veeam Backup & Replication
• Commvault
• IBM Storage solutions
• HPE 3
  
  PAR storage systems.
• Perform and validate data restoration processes to ensure recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time objectives (RTO) are met.
• Schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot backup jobs across multi-platform environments (physical, virtual, cloud).
• Conduct regular verification of backup integrity and success rates, addressing any failures promptly.
• Develop and maintain detailed documentation for backup procedures, recovery plans, and system configurations.
• Perform capacity planning and analysis for backup infrastructure and storage.
• Collaborate with other IT teams (e.g., system administrators, network engineers) to integrate backup solutions with existing infrastructure.
• Stay current with emerging backup technologies, trends, and best practices to recommend system improvements.
• Provide expert-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex backup and recovery issues.
• Participate in disaster recovery (DR) planning and testing activities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise backup and storage solutions.
• Mandatory Technical Expertise: Extensive, proven experience with the operation and maintenance of the following systems:
• Veeam
• Commvault
• IBM Storage
• HPE 3
  
  PAR
• Complete familiarity with data recovery operations, backup integrity verification, and backup scheduling across heterogeneous environments.
• In-depth understanding of backup methodologies, disaster recovery principles, and data lifecycle management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data protection and system reliability.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Relevant professional certifications (e.g., from Veritas, Veeam, Commvault, HPE, IBM) are highly desirable.
