Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are currently seeking a talented and detail-oriented Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the engineering team of SAMA MEP, which plays a critical role in delivering technical excellence and support through the development of accurate, coordinated, and code-compliant engineering deliverables for our projects across the region.

The ideal candidate will lead the design and preparation of shop drawings for Mechanical systems, collaborating closely with team engineers, and supporting effective coordination with other engineering disciplines. This role requires very solid technical knowledge, proactive collaboration skills, and a commitment to engineering standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and preparation of shop drawings for mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and other related systems.
• Provide technical oversight and mentorship to a team of mechanical engineers and designers.
• Apply advanced engineering knowledge in HAP calculations, ventilation planning, fixtures units sizing, pump head and flow rate estimation, and ESP calculations for fans and AHUs.
• Conduct site visits to gather technical data, validate requirements, and ensure design compliance with real-world site constraints.
• Review riser diagrams, mechanical layouts, schematics, and material specifications.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and projects specifications.
• Coordinate closely with electrical, civil, and fitout trades to ensure interdisciplinary alignment.
• Support the project delivery team during construction, providing on-demand technical expertise.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation of design work, progress and revisions.

Qualifications

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum of 12 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design and shop drawings preparation.
• High Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Solid BIM experience, working with Revit MEP, Navisworks, Tekla, or other BIM coordination platforms.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and components, including sizing, equipment selection, and systems integration.
• Language:
  Strong command of Arabic and English (verbal and written).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Proven leadership and problem-solving skills.
