Senior/Principal Engineer – Wet Utilities Job Description
WSP is looking for a highly skilled Senior or Principal Wet Utilities Engineer to join our growing Water Design team in Riyadh. You will play a key role in delivering complex wet infrastructure projects across the Kingdom—supporting major masterplans, urban development programmes, and strategic water networks aligned with Saudi Arabia’s vision for sustainable growth.
This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer with deep experience in the design and coordination of potable water, TSE, fire-fighting, stormwater, and wastewater networks.
ResponsibilitiesTechnical Design & Delivery
- Lead and deliver detailed engineering designs for potable water
, TSE
, irrigation
, foul sewer
, and stormwater drainage networks. - Prepare hydraulic modelling, demand calculations, surge analysis, pipe sizing, and network optimization.
- Produce high-quality engineering deliverables including drawings, reports, design notes, and technical specifications.
- Review and validate designs prepared by junior engineers, external consultants, or contractors.
- Ensure all engineering outputs meet WSP standards and client requirements.
- Act as discipline lead for Wet Utilities on multi-disciplinary design projects.
- Coordinate with internal teams including Roads, Structures, Environmental, Geotech, and Architecture.
- Engage with external stakeholders such as municipalities, utility providers (NWC, SWCC, RCs), and regulatory authorities in Saudi Arabia.
- Support project managers with programme planning, risk mitigation, and progress reporting.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Attend design meetings, workshops, and presentations with clients.
- Provide technical guidance and ensure client expectations are met or exceeded.
- Contribute to value engineering, alternative solutions, and technical advisory support.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure designs comply with relevant KSA and international standards (SASO, NWC, MOMRA, MARAFIQ, BS/EN, AWWA).
- Support quality management processes including checks, reviews, and approvals.
- Promote best practices, innovation, and sustainable engineering approaches.
Team Development
- Mentor, coach, and support junior engineers and CAD/ BIM technicians.
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, technical excellence initiatives, and lessons‑learned sessions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, or related discipline (Master’s preferred).
- Proven experience delivering wet utilities and water network designs in the Middle East—preferably Saudi Arabia.
- Strong command of hydraulic modelling tools (e.g., Water
GEMS, Sewer
GEMS, EPANET, Info Works, Civil 3D/Infra Works). - Experience in large-scale masterplans, infrastructure corridors, and utility planning projects.
- Strong understanding of KSA authority guidelines and approval processes.
- Proficiency in design and coordination of multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with BIM processes; knowledge of 3D design environments is an advantage.
- Strong communication, coordination, and client‑facing skills.
- Ability to lead teams and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
