Turner Lovell is a specialist recruitment partner to the global energy sector, supporting leading electricity generation, transmission and advisory businesses. We are currently supporting a major international technical advisory organisation delivering high-level expertise in the Middle East .
This is a rare opportunity to work as an embedded HV Cable Expert
, acting as a trusted advisor to the end client undergoing significant infrastructure development and modernisation.
You will join a team of international subject-matter experts deployed onsite, working directly with the client’s O&M teams to strengthen asset reliability, optimise maintenance strategy and enhance technical capability across the transmission network .
The RoleAs HV Cable Expert, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of cable asset condition monitoring, diagnostics and failure investigation across transmission systems above 132kV (ideally 275kV / 400kV).
Working closely with maintenance teams and senior management, you will provide hands‑on technical guidance, challenge OEM recommendations where required, and contribute to long‑term asset strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Support asset inspections and health index assessments for HV cable infrastructure
- Recommend preventive and corrective maintenance strategies based on condition data
- Provide technical advisory during major cable incidents and failure events
- Conduct and interpret advanced cable testing including:
Partial Discharge, Sheath integrity testing, Core insulation tests, Tan Delta, VLF withstand testing, DC insulation resistance testing) - Lead and support failure analysis activities (including hot oil bath, microscopic and water tree analysis)
- Work collaboratively with international technical laboratories and research teams on root cause investigations
- Challenge OEM repair recommendations and support repair execution onsite
- Coach and mentor local engineering and maintenance teams
- Identify improvement opportunities within transmission O&M processes
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- 5–10 years’ experience within Transmission Grid O&M
- Proven expertise in HV cable testing and condition monitoring (minimum 132kV, ideally 275kV–400kV)
- Confident working as a technical consultant
- Willingness to relocate to Saudi Arabia
- Act as a senior technical authority within one of the largest grid environments in the Middle East
- Contribute directly to transmission reliability strategy and infrastructure development
