MEP Engineering Manager

A leading Tier 1 main contractor is seeking an experienced MEP Engineering Manager to join their Riyadh-based project team, supporting the delivery of a high‑profile, world‑class giga project in Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will play a critical role in coordinating the design and shop drawings for complex MEP systems on a landmark development, ensuring full alignment between design intent, construction execution, programme, and commercial objectives.

• Lead and manage all MEP engineering and design activities across the full project lifecycle, from pre‑construction through to commissioning and handover.
• Provide technical leadership across mechanical, electrical, public health, fire/life safety, ELV, and specialist systems.
• Manage and coordinate MEP consultants, specialist designers, and subcontractors to ensure timely, coordinated, and compliant design delivery.
• Act as the primary MEP technical interface between client, consultants, internal engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
• Oversee design development, technical submissions, shop drawings, method statements, RFIs, and approvals.
• Ensure MEP systems are fully coordinated with architectural, structural, and façade designs, with a strong focus on buildability.
• Lead MEP value engineering, design optimisation, and technical risk management without compromising performance or quality.
• Support procurement and subcontractor selection through technical reviews, scope alignment, and clarifications.
• Ensure full compliance with Saudi codes, authority requirements, international standards, and project specifications.
• Monitor MEP programme performance, technical risks, and interfaces, proactively resolving issues that could impact delivery.
• Lead and mentor MEP engineering teams on site, promoting high technical standards and best‑practice delivery.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
• Minimum 15–20 years’ experience in MEP engineering and delivery on major construction projects.
• Proven background working for leading main contractors.
• Experience working for Building Services/MEP design consultants would be highly advantageous.
• Recent experience operating as an MEP Engineering Manager, Senior MEP Manager, or Design Manager would be ideal.
• Strong track record delivering complex large‑scale building or mixed‑use developments, ideally on mega or giga projects.
• Previous experience working in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East is highly advantageous but not mandatory.
• Deep understanding of MEP design management within design‑and‑build / EPC environments.
• Excellent leadership, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to operate at senior project and client level, managing multiple interfaces and priorities.
