Job Summary:
Serves as a civil engineer under R&I Static inspection to manage, inspect and maintain existing plant civil structure, will be responsible for developing and implementing Civil Inspection procedures, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations, will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of in-service plant civil structures and foundations.
Role responsibilities:
- Explore and utilization of advanced inspection techniques for concrete structure health assessment.
- Lead and perform civil and structural inspections, including foundations, steel structures, concrete works and underground utilities.
- Lead inspection to determine the present condition of steel structures, types, extent, rate and causes of deterioration, estimate the time remaining before repair or replacement, effects on serviceability if repair or replacement is deferred and the most cost‑effective means to prevent further deterioration of the structure and to study the performance of a material under a specific exposure.
- Provide repair methods for concrete structure.
- Review structural vibration measurements and evaluate with construction code and standards and provide solutions to resolve any structural vibration issues.
- Identify the root causes of identified steel deteriorations and provide clear recommendations to prevent reoccurrence and rectify the findings (short‑term and long‑term recommendations shall be provided separately).
- Must have experience in construction and repair of tanks, reservoir, ponds, drainage pits, sump pits, basins, etc. Repair of steel structures, beams and columns and slabs, dykes, foundation, etc. Retrofitting and strengthening of concrete and steel structures in live plant.
- Experience in sea water cooling tower inspection and maintenance.
- Lead soil settlement survey and provide correction plan for settled area in plant.
- Strong focus on quality assurance, implementing rigorous inspection and testing protocols to ensure structural integrity.
- Conduct detailed assessments of existing structures, identifying weaknesses, and providing recommendations for re‑strengthening and rehabilitation.
- Successfully executed numerous structural rehabilitation projects, extending the lifespan of aging infrastructure and enhancing safety and reliability.
- Ability to evaluate complex technical issues and provide clear recommendations.
- Review and validate engineering design packages, drawings, specifications, calculations, and contractor submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements and international standards.
- Participate in site audits, quality surveillance for ongoing repair or maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards such as ACI, AISC, ASTM, ASCE, Saudi Building Code, and company internal standards.
- Review geotechnical studies/reports including soil profile interpretation, subsurface investigations, soil foundation engineering, settlement analysis, lateral earth pressures, slope stability, and site investigation surveys.
- Participate in multi‑disciplinary technical discussions and provide reliable guidance.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in QA/QC to continuously improve processes and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with minimum 5 years of experience in structural engineering for petrochemical plant structure inspection and health assessment.
- Extensive hands‑on experience with civil inspections and quality management systems.
- Professional certification preferred (PE, PEng, Chartered Engineer, PMP, etc.).
- Proficiency in civil engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Project) and structural analysis.
- Deep understanding of engineering codes (ACI, AISC, ASCE, SBC, API RP 752/753, etc.).
- Analyse complex structural problems and implement corrective actions.
- Demonstrate leadership skills.
- Strong communication, written and oral.
- Analytical thinking.
