- For the construction of this project in the region, ENGIE is seeking an Engineering Manager – to manage all technical and engineering‑related matters and ensure the successful execution and delivery of utility‑scale projects in the Middle East.
- The Engineering Manager will lead, follow up, and coordinate all basic and detailed design review activities on behalf of the Owner during the construction of utility‑scale facilities.
- Lead and coordinate the basic and detailed engineering design review for utility‑scale projects in coordination with the Owner’s Engineer, EPC (BOP&OEM) Contractor, Project Company, and O&M team.
- Act as the single technical authority for all this project engineering matters during design, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Review and approve BOP&OEM engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with project specifications, grid codes, safety standards, and ENGIE engineering requirements.
- Define and validate system architecture, including technology, protection schemes, auxiliary systems, and control philosophy.
- Perform and validate system sizing, configuration, redundancy philosophy, and layout to meet performance, availability, and lifecycle requirements.
- Coordinate and oversee grid integration engineering.
- Support procurement activities through technical evaluation of vendor offers, review of specifications, compliance matrices, and participation in technical clarifications.
- Coordinate technical interfaces between BOP contractors, OEM, grid operators, consultants, and authorities to ensure alignment across all engineering disciplines.
- Monitor engineering progress, identify technical risks and interface issues, and implement mitigation measures to avoid schedule, cost, or performance impacts.
- Maintain and update the engineering risk register, including risks related to safety, constructability, grid compliance, operability, and long‑term performance.
- Lead technical oversight of Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and ensure equipment compliance with contractual and technical requirements.
- Provide engineering support during installation, commissioning, testing, and performance validation to ensure compliance with approved design.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, fire protection, environmental, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements relevant to projects.
- Develop and implement engineering best practices, standards, and review processes to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency across projects.
- Prepare and present technical reports, engineering assessments, and design review summaries to internal and external stakeholders.
Internal: Project Company Management and site supervision team, Employees, Owner Engineering team, Contractors & Subcontractors, Head of Engineering MENA, Internal Stakeholders representatives & visitors.
External: SPPC and SEC, Lenders Engineer and other external inspectors / auditors, BOP and Supplier, External consultants, Government and administrative authorities.
Required QualificationsQualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in utility‑scale power or renewable energy projects, including design, integration, testing, or commissioning activities.
- Proven experience leading the engineering of large‑scale or hybrid projects from concept and detailed design through construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Solid knowledge of applicable international standards and codes.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working in the Middle East region.
- Experience working with SEC for substation.
- Expertise to deal with Chinese EPC player for large solar projects is a plus.
- Fluency in English is required;
Arabic or Chinese language skills are a plus.
