The Site-Based Project Manager is responsible for supporting / sit alongside the Site Lead / Project Architect in the overall management, coordination and control of construction delivery activities across the project lifecycle, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved programme, contractual obligations, project objectives and quality standards.
Acting as a senior representative of the Lead Design Consultant (LDC), the role provides leadership across contractor management, multidisciplinary site coordination, construction administration, programme monitoring and stakeholder engagement to maintain effective project delivery and governance.
This is a highly client-facing position requiring an individual with strong professional presence, proven stakeholder management capability and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate must be capable of representing DSA confidently across Client, Contractor, Authority and Consultant interfaces whilst driving decisions, managing expectations and maintaining alignment with contractual and delivery obligations.
The role requires a proactive and delivery-focused individual capable of identifying project risks early, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and supporting successful project execution through testing & commissioning, handover and close-out.
2. JOBACCOUNTABILITIES LINKED TO OBJECTIVES
A) Construction Supervision & Delivery Management
- Support management and coordination of day-to-day construction supervision activities across all disciplines.
- Provide leadership across multidisciplinary supervision teams to maintain aligned and efficient project delivery.
- Monitor contractor performance, construction methodology, resource allocation and execution effectiveness.
- Drive coordination and timely resolution of technical, programme and site interface matters.
- Ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and project requirements.
- Support delivery readiness for testing & commissioning, phased handovers and close-out activities.
- Monitor contractor programmes, look-ahead schedules and progress against approved milestones and project targets.
- Demonstrate strong programme awareness with the ability to assess sequencing, delays, interface risks and recovery opportunities.
- Identify programme constraints and coordinate mitigation and recovery actions with project stakeholders.
- Monitor construction progress and support proactive management of programme risks affecting delivery.
- Prepare and maintain project reporting to support informed decision-making and executive visibility.
- Support implementation of contractual procedures in accordance with project requirements and consultant obligations.
- Demonstrate sound understanding of FIDIC contract administration principles and Engineer / Consultant interface management.
- Monitor contractor compliance with contractual obligations relating to submissions, quality, reporting and programme & procurement commitments.
- Support management of project records, instructions, observations and technical correspondence.
- Assist with identification and escalation of commercial, contractual and delivery risks.
- Manage and track RFIs, technical submissions, shop drawings, material approvals and consultant deliverables in conjunction with the Project Architect.
- Coordinate review workflows to support timely technical responses and minimise impact to programme.
- Monitor closure of NCRs, inspections, observations and corrective actions.
- Support governance and close-out procedures to maintain project controls and auditable records.
- Maintain effective document control and reporting through approved project and EDMS platforms.
- Act as a key day-to-day interface between Client, Contractor, Authorities and Consultant teams.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across all levels of project delivery.
- Lead and support meetings, workshops and reporting sessions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicate risks, recommendations and recovery actions clearly and professionally.
- Maintain strong client relationships whilst protecting DSA’s contractual position and delivery obligations.
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related discipline.
- Minimum 12+ years’ experience in construction supervision, site management and project delivery.
- Strong construction supervision, management and multidisciplinary site coordination experience on large-scale developments.
- Sound understanding of FIDIC contract administration and Engineer / Consultant interface management.
- Ability to manage contractor performance, progress monitoring and recovery actions.
